ASST/ASSOC Director Technology Licensing PSOM/PCI
Reporting to the Director, PCI, Perelman School of Medicine Office (PSOM), works directly as a team member to assist PSOM faculty, staff and students with all aspects of technology transfer and commercialization, builds new research and development collaborations with industry partners and effectively manages all internal and external relationships with key stakeholders to fully enable technology commercialization. Proactively builds and expands commercial relationships within assigned departments, divisions and specifies technology focus areas. Identifies projects and developments of commercial interest, facilitates the establishment of research collaborations with industry and negotiates licenses for intellectual property and sponsored research agreements for research programs, respectively. Conceptualizes and coordinates the strategic application of resources to achieve these targets, including the creation of innovative business arrangements and collaborations. Provide excellent customer and client service in all areas of effort and interaction.
- Asst Dir Tech Licensing : M.S. required, Ph.D./M.D. in a biomedical science preferred plus 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Assoc Dir Tech Licensing: Ph.D., preferably in a life/health sciences related field required plus 3-7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Both require experience in academic technology transfer, corporate business development or equivalent intellectual property/corporate contract experience.
- Must have demonstrated track record of successful negotiating and closing license agreements; knowledge of intellectual property and licensing practice; ability to identify and handle inventions in diverse fields outside of area of technical expertise, excellent time management and prioritization skills; excellent verbal & written communication skills; strong attention to details, follow-through & closing.
