Inova, the Virginia-based health system, has selected veteran pharmaceutical executive Mickey Y. Kim to serve as senior vice president of research and commercialization. In his new role, Kim will work with Inova’s institute leaders to establish the company’s research priorities, manage its technology portfolio and engage with industry partners to advance the commercialization of medical innovations.

Kim has over 20 years of experience as a pharmaceutical executive, entrepreneur, venture capitalist and business consultant. He most recently served as head of licensing and start-up activity at MedImmune, the biologics drug development arm of AstraZenca.

“Inova’s focus is on medical research that will have the most significant and immediate impact on the health of the people we serve,” says Inova CEO Knox Singleton. “Because of his experience across the healthcare sector, his success in identifying the most impactful research areas, and his success in commercialization of discovery, Mickey is the perfect person to lead our research at Inova.”
