The U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory has selected tech transfer expert Suresh Sunderrajan to lead its Science and Technology Partnerships and Outreach Directorate (STPO). STPO works with the lab’s research directorates, centers, institutes and initiatives to spur innovation through collaboration and outreach efforts aimed at research universities and other institutions. In his new role, Sunderrajan will oversee efforts related to business development, licensing, sponsored research, government relations, outreach and innovation.

Sunderrajan is Argonne’s current director of technology development and commercialization. He previously served as director of innovation business development at United Technologies Corporation, where he was responsible for technology licensing, patent sales and start-up opportunities.

“As [Argronne] seeks to increase its strategic partnerships with industrial, academic and other partners, I am confident that Suresh’s visionary and experienced leadership will help Argonne increase its impact and competitiveness,” says Paul Kearns, the lab’s interim director.
