Duke University has selected Jon Fjeld, a mentor for technology entrepreneurs, to serve as interim director of the Duke Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative (Duke I&E).

Fjeld has served as executive director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Fuqua School of Business. There, he has taught entrepreneurship and strategy since 2005, creating a three-course sequence called the Program for Entrepreneurs that explores ventures ranging from social companies to life science and technology start-ups. Fjeld will succeed Kip Frey as interim director of Duke I&E.

“I am grateful to Jon Fjeld for stepping in to continue the momentum of one of our fastest-growing and most dynamic programs,” says Duke provost Sally Kornbluth. “Jon’s extensive experience, coupled with his commitment to interdisciplinary and creative curriculum development, makes him the right person to lead the initiative during this transition period.”
