Representatives from more than 2,000 Chinese and Israeli companies recently gathered at the fourth China-Israeli Investment Summit in the Zhuhai province in China.

The companies promoted research projects, auctioned patents, and attended forums on topics such as intelligent manufacturing, the digital economy, biomedicine, smart cities, and intellectual property rights.

China is Israel’s largest trading partner in Asia, while Israel is one of China’s major trading partners in the Middle East. Last year, trade volume between the two nations reached $13.12 billion, a 15.6% year-on-year increase.

In March last year, the two countries launched a partnership to collectively boost tech innovation. According to Zhao Dongliang, director of the Changzhou Israeli Innovation Park, China and Israel complement each other well in this partnership.

“The basic research of industries in Israel is better, and the country emphasizes core technology research and development, while China is adept in business model innovation, so the combination of the two has promising prospects,” says Zhao.

So far, more than 1,000 Chinese companies have visited or promoted projects in Israel, while several hundred Israeli companies have introduced their projects in China, according to the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission in China.
