Wellspring, a global leader in technology transfer software, and Japan’s University Network for Innovation and Technology Transfer (UNITT), are partnering to develop the first ever web portal for marketing Japanese university spinouts.

The website will build upon the most recent start-up data published by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Wellspring and UNITT will also feature start-ups from UNITT member institutions across the country. Overall, the site will be the only comprehensive database of tech start-ups in Japan and will be available to investors, potential customers, interested businesses and others.

“We are excited and proud to partner with Wellspring to publicize the innovative Japanese university-based start-ups in order to market them broadly in Japan and beyond,” says Akira Fujishima, president of UNITT.

“Combining the strengths of UNITT’s academic community with Wellspring’s technology promises an unrivaled technology marketplace,” says Robert Lowe, CEO of Wellspring. “Based on our research, universities that engage in integrated marketing reported 3.5 times more licensing revenue.” The website is slated to launch in late fall of 2018.
