Seoul National University and Precision-Hayes International, a global developer of construction products under the Actuant Corporation, have entered into an exclusive license agreement to commercialize a technology that improves the process of measuring, recording and verifying elongations in concrete.

The “smart” stressing technology has the potential to disrupt the industry by simplifying and automating elongation processes through algorithms that run calculations which are then automatically uploaded and stored for later access.

The technology improves on current methods, which require multiple people, can take several days to complete and don’t always produce accurate data.

“As an industry expert and leader in product innovation, we are excited by this opportunity to change the industry paradigm and enhance our value proposition to our customers,” says Chris Mitchell, vice president and general manager at Precision-Hayes. “Over the next several months, our new product development team will work with other Actuant businesses, leveraging existing resources, to bring to market a “smart” stressing system with a jack and pump as well as a data management platform.”

The exclusive license grants Precision-Hayes the rights to produce and commercialize the technology in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and Asia-Pacific.
