The University of Arkansas (U of A) has chosen entrepreneur and tech transfer professional Weston Waldo to serve as venture development manager in the Office of Technology Ventures.

Waldo most recently served as program director of Texas Tech’s NSF I-Corps Southwest Node. He also serves as a national I-Corps adjunct instructor and an NSF SBIR/STTR commercialization reviewer. Prior to his time at Texas Tech, Waldo was the founder and CEO of yearONE, a biomedical company spun out of university research.

In his new role at U of A, Waldo will lead Technology Ventures’ efforts to promote the launch and success of university start-ups; help drive participation in entrepreneurial programs; identify U of A technologies with high commercial potential; and serve as a liaison between the university start-up ecosystem and the surrounding region.

“We are thrilled to have Weston on board at Technology Ventures,” says David Hinton, acting executive director of the office. “He will be integral to our efforts to form and support start-up and spinout companies at the U of A and will be an invaluable resource to our researchers by helping them secure funding to commercialize their inventions quickly and efficiently.”
