Innovation Licensing Manager at Carilion Clinic Innovation

Carilion Clinic Innovation (CCI) is newly established and set on becoming one of the world’s leading Innovation centers within a healthcare system. They have exclusively retained the Vortechs Group to find an Innovation Licensing Manager.

The Licensing Manager (LM) will have the unique opportunity to vanguard the licensing capabilities and processes at Carilion. The LM guides and executes the full arch of commercialization: advising during intake and assessment, determining the best path forward (e.g. spin out or licensing to established company), the patent strategy, developing go-to-market plan, outreach, and negotiating agreements.

Following a hub-and-spoke model, the LM will have access to an expansive set of resources: marketing, prior art, and regulatory experts, IP counsel, and others as needed or identified by the LM. Additionally, you work collaboratively with our regional partners: Virginia Tech, Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, University of Virginia, and many others. The role is a growth position, giving the candidate ample space and support to create, build, and lead Licensing and new initiatives they envision. Ideal candidates can easily shift and ensure continuity between vision, strategy, execution, and metrics. CI is a tightknit team that is inclusive, trusting, and respectful.

  • Work with inventor(s), external IP experts, and patent/IP counsel to manage patent prosecution and other protection of inventions.
