Technology Transfer Specialist – CDAs, MTAs, and DUAs at the Augusta University Office of Innovation Commercialization

 

The Office of Innovation Commercialization (OIC) is looking for the right person to negotiate and manage, on behalf of Augusta University, confidential disclosure agreements, data use agreements, material transfer agreements, and inter-institutional agreements. Additional type of agreements may also be included as needs evolve. The position will include but not be limited to the following functions: 

  1. Draft, review, negotiate, and manage the execution process for confidential disclosure agreements, data use agreements, material transfer agreements, inter-institutional agreements, and others as assigned. (The number of such agreements typically exceeds 600 per year as of 2021 and likely will grow.)
  2. Manage confidential disclosure agreements, data use agreements, material transfer agreements, inter-institutional agreements, and others as assigned. This includes such activities as following up on agreement status, compliance, and termination, as well as appropriate docketing and tracking, electronic and physical records creation and maintenance, and a high degree of customer service orientation.
  3. Monitor and report process activity; participate in and lead process improvement projects; pursue process automation; and ensure data completeness and accuracy in electronic (e.g., Inteum, OnCore) and physical files.
  4. Maintain and apply current knowledge of new and/or revised AU policies and processes (e.g., Institutional Review Board), state and federal regulations, and evolving trends (e.g., best practices, changes in law, case law, agency policies).
  5. Participate in and contribute to educational activities with AU faculty, staff, and students and meetings/presentations including other AU departments.
  6. Support continuous improvement of contract negotiation and management practices, including the development of new or improved templates and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Support the Division of Sponsored Programs Administration and others by reviewing intellectual property terms and conditions contained in clinical trials agreements, sponsored research agreements, service agreements, and the like.

Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of work with a minimum of three years’ of applicable related experience.

Excellent drafting, business, and critical thinking skills

Excellent interpersonal skills 

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computer software/databases;

Preferred experience with intellectual property databases used by academic technology transfer organizations 

Strong attention to detail

Must possess initiative and creativity 

Ability to work with a wide range of individuals both internally/externally 

Ability to work with minimal supervision; exercise sound judgment and decision-making; maintain confidentiality 

Preferred Qualifications 

Masters or professional degree from an accredited college or university; 3+ years of academic technology transfer and/or industry experience preferred.
