Every year, scores of dynamic, driven people come to PNNL to work with renowned researchers on meaningful science, innovations and outcomes for the U.S. Department of Energy and other sponsors; here is your chance to be one of them!

We’re looking for an Associate Commercialization Manager to join our Technology Deployment and Outreach (TDO) team. Requires basic understanding of contracting, business operations, intellectual property, marketing and technology valuation. Minimal prior technology transfer experience preferred.

  • Relying on your professional technical and/or business expertise, you will develop the full range of technology for commercialization in a way that contributes to TDO’s performance goals. Elements of this activity include: developing, maintaining, and sustaining working relationships with PNNL researchers and leadership; identifying research programs with the potential of resulting in technologies that can serve as the basis for future intellectual property; and identifying licensing partners and structuring/negotiating licenses or other agreements.
  • You will serve as internal liaison for designated laboratory research organizations on intellectual property protection. Convey technology transfer information and advise research staff on principles of commercialization and technology transfer to develop well-informed PNNL researcher-inventors. You will collaborate with researchers and staff to evaluate invention disclosures, conduct prior art searches, recommend patenting strategies, develop commercialization plans, conduct market research and provide research mission support.
  • The successful candidate will work with PNNL researchers to improve the probability of their projects resulting in protected intellectual property. You will oversee technology assets with mentorship and guidance from senior portfolio managers.  You will represent the Laboratory in licensing discussions and negotiations with guidance from TDO senior staff or management.
  • As an Associate Commercialization Manager, this position encompasses the full range of commercialization duties: working with researchers to identify technologies; identifying potential intellectual property; protecting that intellectual property; identifying potential commercial uses for the intellectual property; developing candidate licensee companies; and, negotiating/closing licensing agreements with appropriate partner companies. Oversight and mentorship will be provided by Senior Commercialization Managers.
