TECHNOLOGY LICENSING OFFICER, PHYSICAL SCIENCESOffice of Strategic Alliances and Technology Transfer (OSATT)Technology Licensing Office (TLO), to join an organization that provides the highest quality licensing and outreach to industry and others interested in commercializing MIT technology.  Responsibilities include identifying and assessing the commercial potential of new inventions, identifying potential licensees either in established or startup companies, marketing inventions, negotiating license and other agreements, and strategic management of the patenting process.  Will work very closely with other TLO staff, including the supervision of designated technology licensing associates (TLAs) or associate licensing officers (AOs).  Will also develop and maintain productive relationships with MIT’s OSATT catalyst team, inventors, strategic transactions team, alliance managers, the Office of Corporate Relations, external parties such as corporate representatives, and other partners in the surrounding MIT and regional innovation ecosystem.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  B.S. in the physical sciences or engineering; seven years of direct experience in the engineering and/or physical sciences industries, including at least five in a technical position involving activities such as marketing and technology licensing, product management and/or business development, and contract negotiation; excellent organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, and verbal and written communications skills; attention to detail; diplomacy; and a collaborative approach to developing and maintaining effective working relationships.  Must be able to effectively interact with MIT faculty and students, departmental and administrative staff, lawyers, venture capitalists, etc.; manage multiple projects simultaneously; effectively address complex business, legal, interpersonal, and inter-organizational issues; work independently; and exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of all work assignments.  PREFERRED:  advanced degree or MBA.  Job #21642-12
