The Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court (UPC) took effect in June 2023, ushering in enforcement across the EU in a single action.
This practical webinar will bring you up to speed on the UPC’s first six months of operation, looking particularly at the first decisions issued by the new Court to identify trends and considerations for patentees and IP practitioners.
So far, the first UPC decisions have favored patentees, with speedy decisions on injunctions that are likely to attract more of these applications and have important implications for university TTOs and other IP owners. But the UPC is also in its infancy, and how it will decide and enforce cases continues to bear close scrutiny. It’s critical that universities and IP practitioners have a solid understanding of the benefits, risks, and operating principles of the Unitary Patent and the UPC.
We’ve recruited UK and European patent attorney Matthew Howell, partner with HLK-IP, to bring you this important and timely webinar. He’ll provide keen insight into the inner workings of the UPC, the use of the Unitary Patent, and how these new elements of EU patent regulation should inform your strategy going forward.
